CAMUG WEB PAGE SIG

This is the home page of CAMUG's Web Page Special Interest Group (SIG). This will allow us to discuss the possibilities and advancements in the technology of Internet web page hosting.

Everyone in CAMUG can be a member of this SIG. At first, we will have to limit the number of people at the meetings. This is for obvious reasons. We can not expect a member to host twenty five people at their home.

Web Teacher for Web Browsing -- Teaching you step by step on how to use all the benefits of the Internet.   This is a wonderful tool provided by the National Cable Television Association. www.ustc.org/webteacher

Some interesting links for creating your web page.

Tulsa Computer Society's Link Page - This site has Links, links, and more links to everything Internet.  This is one of the most complete listings I have found anywhere.  Check out what another user group is doing.

The Free Site, home of the Web's best freebies - Icons and pointers to great free offers.  Not everything can be actually free, but check it out and find out for sure.

Win Annoyances - Nice site with lots of information about the operating system from Microsoft.  This site has information about keeping the system running to the best of it's abilities.

Tripod Electronic Soapbox -- Tripod's free Web site service is similar to GeoCities', but it's a more inviting habitat for first-time Web creators. While Tripod gives you less space (2MB versus GeoCities' 3MB), it provides a friendlier lineup of authoring tools, including one that lets you construct a basic site without knowing HTML. Like GeoCities, Tripod puts ads on your pages. www.tripod.com

ParaChat -- Okay, so you've created your Web site. Now what? Spiff it up with a free chat room. ParaChat lets you add chat to any site--no special software required. True, your room will sport banner ads and won't be big on options, but it's still a great deal. ParaChat also offers ad-free and more feature-rich chat services starting at a thrifty $60 per year. www.parachat.com
